Cecil E. Roberts, Jr. of Paola, KS passed away November 3, 2017 at the age of 80 years. Cecil was born in Kansas City, KS on April 11, 1937 to Cecil Roberts Sr. and Rachael “Louise” Roberts (Claycomb). Cecil graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1955.  Cecil enlisted in the United States Navy July 7, 1955 and proudly served his country for 4 years. He married the love of his life, Marilyn K. Clark on November 25, 1959. She survives of the home with their little white Maltese companion “Little Butt”.

Other survivors include a daughter, Dana Wise of Gardner, KS, a son Jeffrey Roberts and wife Kalen of Ottawa, KS. Sisters Marjorie Stierly and husband Frank, Linwood, KS, Elizabeth Biggs and Husband Ernie, Spring Hill, KS and Brother David Roberts of Bonner Springs.  Grandchildren include Tiffany Evans and husband Rocky of Ottawa, KS, Joshua Roberts and wife Jessica of Rantoul, KS, Jessica Lawrence of Belton, MO, Jeremy Roberts and Jessi of Olathe, KS Randy Lawrence, Jr. and Carrie of Cleveland, MO, Kiersten Roberts and Korey Stiner of Garnett, KS and Zachery and Lucas Roberts of Ottawa, KS. Cecil is also survived by 16 great grandchildren, Dalton and Sophie Evans, Christian Blunk, Sean, Luck, Trevor and Jenna Roberts, Aleah Lawrence, Hunter Hollister, Alex Hogue, Cynthia Roberts, Lillean and Lydia Lawrence, Ethan Silvey and Jasper and Brodix Roberts.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Mary Louise, son Rodney and two brothers Clayton Roberts Sr. and James Roberts.

Cecil retired from Certainteed after 38 years to do what he enjoyed most, spending time with his family. He loved to travel, especially to Colorado. He enjoyed tinkering in the shop with the boys, playing cards with his friends, reading, painting and fiddling with electronics. Cecil loved watching his favorite sports teams, The Kansas City Chiefs, The Kansas City Royals and KU Basketball.  But most of all he loved being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom looked up to, loved and adored him.

The family will gather with friends for a potluck meal on Saturday, November 18th at 2:30 p.m. at the Ottawa Memorial Auditorium 301 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
