RICHMOND — A body was found in a burned-out car near Richmond shortly before midnight Thursday. The case is being investigated as a suspicious death, Franklin County Sheriff Craig Davis said. Sheriff’s officers and Richmond fire fighters found the body in the vehicle shortly after they received a report of a vehicle fire. The vehicle was in the west ditch of Eisenhower Road about two and a half miles northwest of Richmond.
The Ottawa Fire Department, the state fire marshal’s office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are helping the investigation. The body was sent to Topeka for an autopsy, Davis said.
