OTTAWA — John Brown Road west of Princeton will likely get repaired after all.
The Kansas Department of Transportation has made a deal the county can’t refuse. After some commissioners expressed concern about the strings attached to more than a $503,000 in economic stimulus money to make the repairs, county public works director Jim Haag said that KDOT has decided that the repairs would qualify for a special program that would make the project simpler for the county to do. KDOT has even offered to do the paperwork for the county. It was an offer that seemed too good to be true, according to commission chairman Ed Taylor. It’s a “no-brainer” to accept the offer, he said.
