POMONA — The first of three public meetings on a proposed tax for West Franklin Unified School District 287 will be Tuesday. Tuesday’s meeting to explain a capital outlay mill levy will be 7 at the West Franklin High School community room at Pomona. The next meeting will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Appanoose School. The third meeting will be 7 p.m. May 4 at Williamsburg School. The school board adopted the tax last week and the money would be used to repair school buildings and buy new equipment. The levy is subject to a protest petition. However, school officials say doesn’t have enough money for a special election if petitions force an election.
