OTTAWA — The county has narrowed the number of possible sites for a new juvenile detention center to two. County commissioners met in executive session Wednesday morning with county administrator Lisa Johnson and juvenile justice director Ethel Wallace concerning property acquisition. Commission chair Ed Taylor said that they looked at possible sites for a juvenile detention center. Taylor said one of those sites is near the Elizabeth Layton Center on Eisenhower Road. The county needs to move the center, which is next to the county jail, and has looked at several locations, he said. Once the juvenile detention center is moved, adult inmates can be moved into the space, easing overcrowding in the jail, he said.
