OTTAWA — You can go green this week. You canvisit the county recycling center, on South Elm Street for one of four public tours beginning this afternoon, said county solid waste director Rick Sawin said. Tours will be 1 today, 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Wednesday and 1 p.m. Thursday. Although the center has given tours to school students over the years, Sawin says it’s the first time the center has had tours for the public. The tours are part of National County Government Week, which has a green theme this year. Recyclable items can be dropped off this afternoon at the Kansas State Bank, 236 N. Main St., at the Ottawa Herald parking lot, 102 S. Cedar, Wednesday and at the Country Mart parking lot, 2138 S. Princeton, on Thursday.
