LOUISBURG – Area and state officials are imagining what K-68 highway will or should look like 20 years from now. Tuesday night’s meeting was held last night in Louisburg to explain to the public a corridor study on K-68 between Ottawa and the Missouri line and to get ideas on what citizens want to see in the final plans. KDOT wants to plan for and control development and growth along the highway to avoid having to correct traffic bottlenecks later. Planning is still at an early stage, said engineer James Gilbert. A target date of 2030 has been set for completion of all major upgrades to K-68, he said. The project might involve many kinds of devices ranging from more traffic signals to widening the highway to four lanes in certain areas, he said.
