OTTAWA — An architectural firm has recommended a site next to the Elizabeth Layton Center’s Eisenhower Road clinic as the best place to build a new juvenile detention center. Dan Rowe, an architect for Treanor and Associates, told county commissioners Monday morning that it would be ideal to put a new juvenile center next-door to the Layton Center, which provides many services to juveniles. The center would be a good and compatible neighbor for the new juvenile center, he said. County administrator Lisa Johnson said a panel of county and law officials will look at Treanor’s recommendation. The panel will make a presentation to county commissioners in about a month, Johnson said. The county has been looking at moving the juvenile detention center away from the jail.
