BALDWIN CITY — A seven-year-old Baldwin City girl was taken by Lifestar helicopter to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo., after she was struck by a pickup in Baldwin City before the weekend. State troopers said Danielle Bennett was riding her bicycle but didn’t stop at a stop sign at Flame Way and Fire Tree Avenue. She was hit by a pickup driven by Ralph Ybarra, Baldwin City, Thursday afternoon. Children’s Mercy Hospital said she has been discharged. The accident was one of several injury accidents occurring over the Memorial Day weekend. Mark Landie, 26, Ottawa, was taken by helicopter to a Topeka hospital late Friday night. Franklin County deputies said landie swerved his Ford Windstar van to miss a deer in the 2800 block of Colorado Road. His van struck a tree in the west ditch. State troopers say four people were injured near Burlington in Coffey County late Sunday night when a car swerved to missed an unidentified animal on Eighth Road west of U.S. 75. Injured were driver John Duncan, 37, and passengers Erika Voorhes, four-year-old Aiden Voorhes and three-year-old Hayley Voorhes. They are all from Arkansas City and they were all taken to Coffey County Hospital. Two separate accidents Saturday in Anderson County injured six people.
