OTTAWA — Kids from fourth- to eighth-grade can Take part in the free history camp in connection with next week’s “Bright Dreams, Hard Times” Chautauqua in Ottawa next week and then perform June 5 in the Chautauqu at City Park. The camp will be 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday next week in the Old Courtroom in the courthouse, said Deb Barker, Franklin County Historical Society executive director. The camp will be taught by Joyce Theier, who often portrays Calamity Jane; and Anne Birney, who portrays Amelia Earhart. The students will pick and research a local historical figure and then portray the character June 5, Barker said.
