OTTAWA – The Franklin County Commissioners began the first in a series of meetings Monday morning on the county budget for next year. It didn’t take long for county administrator Lisa Johnson to start hitting commissioners with difficult choices. Johnson told them she’s figuring the budgets with the idea that gasoline will hit $4 per gallon next year. Given the sharp changes in the prices, it’s hard to guess what the price of fuel will be next year. Commissioners agreed that she should figure high on her projections.
Commissioners looked at budgets for emergency management, noxious weeds, solid waste, public works, appraiser, the annex and maintenance and planning.
They will continue their budget work Tuesday morning at 8:30 and will work through most of the day.
