OTTAWA — The county will likely put a new juvenile detention center next to the Elizabeth Layton Center clinic on Eisenhower Road southwest of ottawa. County administrator Lisa Johnson told county commissioners Tuesday that she’ll soon have an agreement with Layton Center officials for sharing the costs of appraising and surveying the site in a week or two. The county will buy land from the Layton Center. An architect has said that a new juvenile detention center should have 10 to 13 beds and could cost $4 million to $6 million.
