GARNETT — You can do the right thing and put $500 in your pocket. The city of Garnett will pay a reward for information that leads to convictions of vandals who have torn up city property in recent weeks. Information racks and a bulletin board at the Santa Fe Depot were destroyed and restrooms at Crystal Lake were also damaged. In response, city commissioners have reactivated the reward fund. The city has also accepted a donation of surveillance cameras which will be placed at the Santa Fe Depot on the Prairie Spirit Trail. City Manager Joyce Martin said a local business owner offered the digital cameras after hearing about the recent vandalism. Anyone with information about the vandalism and who’s interested in the $500 reward should contact Police Chief Pat Tate at 448-6823 or city attorney Terry Solander at 448-6131.
