OTTAWA — What will happen to the old Hawthorne elementary school? That was the question at Monday night’s Ottawa Board of Education meeting. The board voted on several proposals…the first was to sell the school to ECKAN. However, the motion to sell the building failed. Next up was a motion to sell the old school to Grace Community Church. That failed on a 4-2 vote. The votes left the board back to where they started out…still owning the Hawthorne School. After further discussion, the board decided to gather more information about possibly re-using Hawthorne for other school programs.
