OTTAWA — An Ottawa man ended up in jail and a sheriff’s police dog ended up with medical treatment after another dog attacked the police dog Tuesday. Ottawa police and Franklin County Sheriff’s officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the 1500 block of South Poplar in Ottawa. When officers entered the house a dog described as a pit bull attacked the sheriff’s dog. Officers said they tried to separate the dogs but an officer shot the attacking dog. That dog died. The police dog was treated for its injuries and is recovering nicely, said Sheriff’s Lt. Jimmie Dean. Leviticus Houston, 29, Ottawa, was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery and for a warrant from another county. He is in the Franklin County Jail.
