BURLINGAME — Kansas state Treasurer Dennis McKinney has given historic items from a mysterious safety deposit box to the Buek family of Burlingame. McKinney said his office received the safety deposit box last fall from a bank in the Wichita area. Mckinney’s his staff looked at the items which included photos, journals and military letters and telegrams in search of owners. The detective work revealed that the items belonged to the Buek family, he said. The items were given to the family in Burlingame Friday. It was important to give the items to the family because of their significance to the family’s tradition, he said. You can check the treasurer’s web site and see if you have any unclaimed property.
