GARNETT — The Moving Wall, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial located in Washington, will be on display in Garnett Sept. 3-7 at Veteran’s Memorial Park. The wall is being brought to Garnett to honor and remember the 2.7 million men and women who served in the U.S. military in Vietnam. The aluminum wall is 253 feet in length and consists of 74 separate frames. As of Jan. 1, there are 58,261 names listed on the memorial. Approximately 1,300 of these are still unaccounted for prisoners of war and missing in action. A local committee consisting of Chris Maynard, Tracy Modlin, Vanessa Palmer and Joyce Martin are organizing the project and are asking anyone who is interested in volunteering their time to help construct and dismantle the wall, serve as local ambassadors and participate in the evening programs.
