GARNETT — The Red Cross has established a shelter at the Anderson County High School, Garnett. Anderson County public information officer Michelle Miller said that people can spend the night at the shelter. Snacks and beverages will be provided to people who seek refuge until power is restored. Miller also said there will be a cooling station in Richmond at the Methodist Church for people to go to during the day because of the heat. The station will be open until 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. No pets are allowed at either location, she said. For information, contact the Red Cross at (913) 321-6314.
