GARNETT — Garnett city officials are watching the bankruptcy case of an Oklahoma Oity wireless internet company. The company leased space on Garnett’s water tower before being forced into Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The city received $500 per month from Crossroads Wireless for six months before the company stopped making payments. Garnett is one of several east central Kansas cities left holding the bag. However, Crossroads’ antenna and equipment is still on the water tower. City attorney Terry Solander said the city could sell the equipment but he advised that the city wait to see if another wireless company is interested in taking over Crossroads’ system.
