OTTAWA — A lawsuit against Franklin County involving a traffic fatality is over. Last week’s court case was canceled at the last minute. County administrator Lisa Johnson said the case has been resolved between the Kiefer family and the county’s insurance carrier KCAMP by a confidential settlement. Representatives for the Kiefer children sued the county because of a one-vehicle accident in which their father Michael Kiefer was killed two years ago. Kiefer lost control of his pickup south of Richter when he drove on a part of Idaho Road that had washed away in the severe flooding of 2007. Kiefer’s wife and the children’s mother, was killed in a traffic accident a year later.
