The Ottawa Police Department is investigating what appears to be a shooting death in the City of Ottawa. On July 10, at 8:16 p.m., police received a call for a reported shooting at 722 S. Hickory Street. After additional investigation police determined that earlier reports of drive-by shooting were unsubstantiated.
The victim is identified as Skye Nicole Cadarette, age 19, of 722 S. Hickory. It appears she died from a single gunshot; however, the exact cause of death will be determined after an autopsy is completed by the State medical examiner.
Police arrested Mark Aaron Sherman, age 24, of 722 S. Hickory and charged him with 2nd Degree Homicide. He is being held without bond in the Franklin County Adult Detention Center.
Members of the Ottawa Detective Unit continue to investigate the death with the assistance of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
