OTTAWA — The Ottawa Municipal Airport has reopened and is being cleaned up. Airport manager Chuck Lemaster said most of the airplanes that were destroyed by the recent microburst have been moved from the airport to the Dodson Aviation insurance hangar at Rantoul. Winds of about 100 miles an hour severely damaged the main hangar at the airport and wrecked nine airplanes two weeks ago. Two more airplanes need to be recovered from a damaged T-hangar and the city is checking with its insurance carrier before the attempt to recover the planes is made, he said. Lemaster said he’s still waiting on what the city decides to do with the airport before he makes plans for recovery.
