OTTAWA — The state’s top health official says many experts fear H1N1 swine flu will return in the fall in an even more powerful and deadly form. Rod Bremby, Kansas Department of Health and Environment secretary, told Franklin County commissioners Wednesday the state will distribute special vaccines this fall in an effort to short-circuit the flu’s comeback. There’s some worry that the swine flu will repeat the history of the so-called Spanish flu, which after a mild beginning, returned in a form that killed millions of people beginning in 1918, he said. The KDHE wants to start vaccinating for swine flu next fall before it gets out of hand.
