TOPEKA — The WIC program has been changed to allow mothers make more healthful food choices. Kansas WIC director David Thomason said the changes are the first major changes in the program for 35 years. New food choices added to the program include whole-wheat bread, brown rice and many fruits and vegetables. WIC stands for Women-Infants-Children. WIC is a health and nutrition program that provides health and medical advice and healthful food for pregnant women or women with infants or young children. WIC mothers select foods from grocery stores.
