OTTAWA – A hearing for Garnett Mayor Chris Maynard has been continued to October 19. Maynard faces a charge in Franklin County District Court of driving under the influence. During his hearing Monday morning, Maynard’s attorney Edward Gillette said he’s still looking at the evidence against Maynard. Gillette told magistrate Kevin Kimball that Maynard qualifies for diversion but he may request a trial. In diversion, he would perform community service and attend alcohol classes and the charge would be dropped. Kimball says that if the case goes to diversion, the October court hearing would be dropped from the docket.
