OTTAWA — As new concerns arise about a deadlier form of H1N1 swine flu showing up this fall, Franklin County health director Midge Ransom said her department is getting ready. The department is establishing its procedures for immunizations and meeting with other medical and emergency agencies, she said. A Washington Post story says that federal experts worry that when it returns, the swine flu will be deadlier because humans have no defense against it. They say if the flu is worse, it could especially affect children and young adults. Ransom said it’s likely that swine flu will be back and she is bracing for a return that could be more dangerous than it was last winter. Federal experts said the flu has been in the southern hemisphere and could return to the U.S. in the next few weeks.
