OTTAWA — It will be a sign of the times – and those signs will say ‘walk your bike.’ At yesterday’s meeting, the city commission gave the green light to the Ottawa Volunteers in Policing group to paint the signs on the sidewalks in the downtown business district. City manager Richard Nienstedt said the signs are aimed at those who ride their bicycles on the downtown sidewalks. Other cities have found that stenciling the signs on the sidewalks are more likely to be seen by bicycles than signs, he said.
