TOPEKA — The federal government will hold a wild horse adoption next week in Topeka.  The feds will also give those who adopt some animals up to $500 for the costs of keeping them.  Seventy animals will be offered at the Bureau of Land Management’s wild-horse adoption which will be Aug. 27-29 at the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka.  Some trained mustangs will also be available.  The minimum adoption fee is $125.  You must be at least 18 years old, have suitable facilities to keep them and have no past record of animal abuse.  You’re allowed up to four horses.  The Topeka wild-horse adoption will also be a test for a new program in which some who adopt animals will receive $500.  The $500 payment will be only for horses that are four years or older.  The payment program doesn’t include burros or younger horses.
