TOPEKA — Although the state has already cut its funding for school districts, state Senate Majority Leader Derek Schmidt said more cuts to school funding are inevitable. Although state revenues appear to have stabilized, the state ran up some deep debts and those will need to be covered next year. That means more cuts in school funding, he said. Schmidt said he’s urged Gov. Mark Parkinson to make cuts as they’re needed rather than wait until the end of the year and then make a “sticker shock” cut.
