OTTAWA — In my back yard. That’s the invitation to city commissioners from a neighbor who’s protesting a proposed rezoning at Ninth and Main. The neighbor, Colleen Rector, invited commissioners yesterday to stand in her backyard to see the impact of the proposed rezoning. The developer seeks to rezone the northwest corner of the intersection for a new video store and other retail space. Commissioners agreed to continue their discussion of the rezoning at next Monday’s study session. The commission will likely vote on the rezoning request at the first September meeting. Because of a protest petition against the rezoning, at least four commissioners would have to agree to rezone the corner.
