OTTAWA — The Ottawa Planning Commission gave a green light to a new Love’s Travel Center south of I-35 at U.S 59 Wednesday. Planners approved a plan that includes a special tax break that will help the developer build the utilities and roads for the travel center. The proposed tax break, which is called TIF – Tax Incremental Financing – will provide a financing tool that allows city utilities to be run to the site under U.S. 59, planning and codes director Wynndee Lee said. Planners scheduled a public hearing concerning the travel center site for Sept. 9. Love’s is the first of two proposed travel centers in Ottawa. Another is proposed at I-35 and K-68.
