TOPEKA – The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for southern Franklin County, Anderson County, southern Osage County Wednesday morning. The weather service extended the warning to 4 p.m. this afternoon. Rain was continuing to fall at moderate to heavy levels south of U.S. 56. The weather service says much of the area received two and a half to nearly four inches of rain since Tuesday. With streams at swollen levels, additional rainfall this morning will likely lead to flooding of some streams, roads and low-lying and poor drainage areas through the mid morning hours. County sheriff’s offices in these areas have reported some rural county roads closed due to high water.
