OTTAWA — A regional water pollution grant will be among the highlights for a state convention of Resource, Conservation and Development officials Tuesday. Lesley Rigney, Hillsdale Water Quality Project, will discuss the grant, which is being administered by the local Lake Region RCD group and the Hillsdale Water Quality Project, said Don Stottlemire, Lake Region chairman. The grant is the only such grant in the nation and is be used in both Kansas and Missouri counties in the Marais des Cygnes-Osage River basin, he said. The grant seeks to repair or replace leaking septic tanks in the watershed, he said. The grant also includes other projects to clean water that runs into the Marais des Cygnes-Osage River. The conference began in Ottawa Sunday and goes through Tuesday.
