OTTAWA — A Paola man who robbed a Wellsville pharmacy at gunpoint nearly a year ago was sentenced to four years in prison Monday. District Judge Tom Sachse agreed to a request to lessen the sentence of 29-year-old Casey McDowell who stole Oxy-Contin from Auburn Pharmacy to 48 months. His attorney William Grimshaw argued that McCowell has sought treatment for drug addiction and has tried to make up for his crimes. Earlier this year, McDowell pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance. McDowell’s sentences will run at the same time.
