TOPEKA — A new agreement between Goodyear and the United Steelworkers OK’d this weekend means that the Topeka tire plant will remain open and will be improved.
The new four-year agreement protects the Topeka Goodyear plant and five others. Goodyear said it closed a plant in Texas a year ago and could close another in Tennessee because of a flood of cheap tires from China. The U.S. recently slapped tariffs on tires from China. The Chinese threaten to retaliate.
