OTTAWA — There has been some test cutting but this year’s fall harvest has been delayed. Franklin County Extension agent Darren Hibdon said that with a few days of dry weather, the corn harvest should kick into high gear. Area farmers are itching to get into their fields, he said. The harvest has been delayed by constant wet weather and high humidity, he said. Normally, the corn harvest is nearly complete this time of year, he said. The fall harvest is the biggest time of the farm season in Franklin County. The fall grains — soybeans, corn and sorghum – are the most important in the county.
