WASHINGTON — U.S. senators Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts said the Senate has approved a bill that includes $32 million to move the National Bio-Agriculture Facility to Manhattan. President Obama is expected to sign the bill sometime today. Brownback and Roberts said the bill is a huge step in relocating the bio-lab to Kansas. The bill has $27 million for design and planning, and $5 million to begin construction of the lab. The present lab on Plum Island, N.Y., is being phased out and a new one built next to Kansas State University. They said the new lab will create as many as 500 high-paying, scientific federal jobs in Kansas and more related research jobs.
