GARNETT — After receiving the resignation of Paris Stahl from the victim witness coordinator position only weeks ago, Anderson County interim attorney Jerry Hathaway said that the county’s application grant for funding the position has been declined. In September, Anderson County commissioners agreed to fund the position until word was received whether the grant had been approved for the upcoming year. Stahl resigned from her duties just days after the approval because it wasn’t sure the county would get the grant. Stahl notified victims of upcoming court dates and judges orders, helped the victims get restitution and filed paperwork and encouraged victims to testify. Hathaway said some of those duties are being done by the county attorney’s office staff.
