GARNETT — Garnett mayor Chris Maynard will ask for diversion on a charge involving DUI. His attorney told a Franklin County judge this week that Maynard would request diversion at a hearing next month. Those accused of DUI for the first time can request diversion. In diversion, the person must meet several conditions for a year. If the person complies with all of the conditions, the prosecutor drops the charge. Maynard was pulled over near Ottawa in May.
