LOUISBURG — An 18-year-old South Dakota man was killed Sunday morning near Louisburg after he tried to flee a state trooper. The Kansas Highway Patrol said a trooper clocked Brandon James Mechaley, Custer, S.D., driving at a high rate of speed along U.S. 69. When the trooper tried to pull him over, he turned west on K-68. Mechaley tried to miss vehicles that were stopped and turning into the Louisburg Cider Mill but he lost control of his 1997 Pontiac Firebird, the Highway Patrol said. His car rolled over.
