OTTAWA — The Ottawa City Commission discussed the new future of what will be the old Highway 59 Monday. City manager Richard Nienstedt said he’s been talking to the state about improvements to U.S 59 before the new U.S. 59 opens later this year. Commissioners are discussing putting a third lane for turning on 59 north of the river. The state will make final improvements to U.S. 59 before it is turned over to the city and county.
