GARNETT — Garnett has received the OK from the state for a proposed water line between the city from Cedar Creek Reservoir. The city would use federal economic stimulus money to build a 12-inch water line from the reservoir to the city’s water treatment plant. The city currently pumps water from the reservoir into Crystal Lake. The city water plant draws water from Crystal Lake. Sediment has been accumulating in the Crystal Lake and it is responsible for the bad taste and smell that sometimes occurs in the city’s water, said city manager Joyce Martin. The new water line would solve that, she said. She said the city has been contacted by several contractors who want to work on the project. A consulting engineer is completing the details of the project.
