OSAWATOMIE — The Osawatomie Volunteer Fire Department merged with the Fontana Fire Department this week. The Osawatomie Fire Department’s Facebook page said its officers will assume operational control and administrative duties of the new combined department. Fire fighters from both stations will respond to calls in both areas.
The merger details are still to be worked out. The department saids the merger came at the request of Miami County Rural Fire District No. 1.
