OTTAWA – KOFO sports director Gary Bateman was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital Sunday night after his car hit a dead cow on U.S. 59 north of Ottawa. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Bateman was driving south on U.S. 59 when the accident occurred about four miles north of Ottawa. Troopers said the cow had already been hit by two other vehicles. A passenger in his car, Darlene Bateman, wasn’t injured. He was listed as being in stable condition.
