LENEXA — Two people, including a 45-year-old Paola man, were taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital as a result of a three-vehicle I-35 pileup in Lenexa Friday afternoon. The Kansas Highway Patrol said cars driven by Steven Welch of Paola and Suzanne Boone of Olathe were stopped on I-35 because of a traffic jam at I-435 exit. Troopers say they hit from behind by a semi-truck driven by James Striplin, Wichita, who couldn’t stop in time. Both Welch and Boone were taken to the hospital. The truck driver wasn’t injured.
