OTTAWA — Ottawa minister Robert Kent Mathews was acquitted this
morning. District Judge Eric Godderz ended Matthew’s jury trial and directed the jury to find him not guilty of theft. After a special prosecutor from the attorney general’s office ended her case, Mathews’ attorney Thomas Bath offered a motion asking Godderz to end the trial. Godderz ruled the prosecution didn’t offer enough evidence to continue the trial.
