OTTAWA — At their meeting this afternoon, the Ottawa city commissioners will discuss a proposal about dropping Main Street downtown to a two-lane with a middle turn lane.
Ottawa city manager Richard Nienstedt said the city has been asking downtown business owners about the idea. The city, Ottawa Chamber of Commerce and Main Street are interested from hearing from you if you haven’t been asked, he said. The commission meets at 4 p.m. today. Nienstedt said he’d like the commission to decide Nov. 30. When the new U.S. 59 opens later this year, the old 59 will be given to the city and county.
