WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore said he won’t seek re-election. A Democrat, Moore has served six terms in Congress from a heavily-Republican district dominated by Johnson County. He said it’s time for new leadership. Moore, a former Johnson County prosecutor, has irked the Republican Party by being able to win despite the number of Republicans in the congressional district, which includes parts of Wyandotte and Douglas counties. If he chooses to step down, it will likely set off a land-rush of Republican candidates seeking the post.
