OTTAWA — With nearly a half-million in funding cuts and more likely, Ottawa school superintendent Dean Katt said next year could be a bleak year – especially because the state is dipping into next year’s economic stimulus funds reserved for schools. With the most recent cut, the district will have lost $1 million, he said. With more cuts, the district will spend its reserves and be forced to cut programs and close one school, he said. On Monday, Gov. Mark Parkinson ordered heavy cuts to school funding and other services to cover a $260 million budget shortfall.
