LYNDON – James Kraig Kahler has been charged with capital murder in Osage County District Court in Saturday’s shooting deaths of his estranged wife, 44-year-old Karen Kahler and his daughters, 18-year-old Emily and 16-year-old Lauren. He was also charged with attempted first degree murder of 89-year-old Dorothy Wight and aggravated burglary of Wight’s home. They were shot Saturday evening in Burlingame. Attorney General Steven Six said the Death Penalty Defense Unit was assigned to represent Kahler. Kahler is being in held in jail on a $10 million cash bond. His preliminary hearing will be 1:30 p.m. Dec. 10.
